Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has revealed that becoming a father of two has been the most profound transformation in his life, even as his career reaches new heights.
In a heartfelt newsletter to fans, the musician reflected on his personal and professional journey, describing how life can change “in the blink of an eye.”
“I’ve been thinking a lot about how quickly life can change without you even noticing it while it’s happening,” he wrote. “One day you are praying quietly over dreams that still feel far away, and then suddenly you realise those same dreams are now your actual life.”
Over recent months, Adekunle Gold said he has experienced numerous career successes, describing the period as one of significant movement and growth. “There’s been so much movement, so many wins, so much life that makes all the toiling worth it.”
He also discussed his latest musical project, Formation, and the enduring joy of creating music. “There’s something beautiful about being able to make music that I enjoy after all these years. I love hearing an idea come alive for the first time.”
Looking ahead to his upcoming orchestra shows across North America, he recalled a dream he had seven years ago, before releasing his hit album Afro Pop. “I sat in Asa’s living room discussing the idea that I wanted to perform with an orchestra someday. I wanted to hear my songs differently.”
While acknowledging the sacrifices and faith that shaped his career, the singer revealed that the most significant change has been at home. “I’m now a father of two,” he said, describing fatherhood as surreal and deeply fulfilling.
“I’ve been completely consumed with joy over my son. I understand something new about love watching him. Sometimes I’m holding him and looking at his sister, and I genuinely lose track of everything else. The noise disappears. The pressure disappears. The world slows down. It’s the best feeling.”
