In a significant development, the police in AdamawaAdamawa State have apprehended 29-year-old Isiaka Hassan for his alleged involvement in a child homicide case in Tingno, located within the Lamurde Local Government Area.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the police command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the investigation was initiated following a report from Hadiza Bashiru on August 30, indicating that her five-year-old son, Abba, was missing and last seen in the company of Hassan.
Nguroje reported that a team of operatives, under the direction of the Divisional Police Officer in Tingno, promptly executed an operation that led to Hassan’s arrest. During questioning, Hassan admitted to colluding with another individual, who remains at large, to murder the child and subsequently bury him in a shallow grave.
The spokesperson added that the child’s remains have been exhumed and sent to a hospital for an autopsy. Nguroje stated that Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and pursue the fugitive suspect.
He assured the public of the police command’s dedication to delivering justice and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in combatting violent crime throughout the state.
