In response to criticism from former presidential candidate Peter Obi, the Federal Government has defended Nigeria’s acceptance of grains from Ukraine, stating it does not indicate the country’s failure.

Peter Obi expressed dismay over Nigeria’s reliance on aid from Ukraine, a nation in conflict.

However, the government highlights that Egypt, a thriving nation, also imports a significant portion of its grains from Ukraine.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, emphasized that Nigeria’s current challenges do not define its status as a failed state.

He underscored the interdependence of nations and reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to steering Nigeria towards progress.

At the Leadership Annual Conference and Award 2023, Idris outlined key measures taken to bolster Nigeria’s position globally, including the removal of fuel subsidies and addressing foreign exchange issues. Despite hurdles, Nigeria’s economic growth remains steady and promising.
