In a letter dated 29 December 2025, Mutfwang detailed the reasons behind his decision, highlighting the necessity for clear direction and effective leadership.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), terminating his membership with immediate effect.

The resignation was communicated in a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward, Mangu LGA.
In the letter, Mutfwang elaborated on the factors influencing his decision, stressing the importance of clear direction and effective leadership.
He stated: “Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform.”
He expressed his gratitude to the PDP for the support and opportunities afforded to him during his time with the party.
“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me with the political platform to engage in the democratic process,” he remarked.
“I acknowledge the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels throughout my tenure in the party, and I remain thankful for the trust placed in me.”
Mutfwang concluded his letter by extending his regards to the party leadership, writing: “Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
