Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of compassion, unity, and patience during this year’s Christmas celebrations.

In his Christmas message, Dogara described the birth of Jesus Christ as the ultimate symbol of God’s love, reminding citizens that the season is not only about joy and festivity but also about humility, generosity, and service. He said Christmas should inspire Nigerians to rise above divisions of tribe and creed, and to recommit themselves to building a society anchored on justice and fairness.

Dogara encouraged Christians to remember the less privileged and extend kindness to those in need, stressing that acts of compassion strengthen communities and reflect the true meaning of the season. He noted that Christmas is a time to heal wounds, foster inclusion, and reinforce the bonds of brotherhood that hold the nation together.

Addressing Nigeria’s current challenges, Dogara urged citizens to remain patient with the administration, noting that reforms underway are beginning to yield results. He emphasized that nation-building requires sacrifice, endurance, and faith, and called on Nigerians to look beyond immediate hardships to the brighter future that lies ahead.

Speaking as Chairman of NCGC, Dogara highlighted the importance of building trust and creating opportunities that uplift lives. He said Christmas should remind both leaders and citizens of their shared responsibility to build a nation where every citizen can flourish in dignity and hope.

Dogara concluded his message with prayers for peace, joy, and renewed strength across Nigeria. He urged citizens to celebrate with gratitude, live with purpose, and step into the new year with confidence that the country’s best days are still to come. “Merry Christmas to all, and may the blessings of this holy season abide with you now and always,” he said
