In their continued determination to end insecurity and make Nigeria safe for all, troops of the Nigeria Army Operation Fassan Yamma have dealt decisively with suspected terrorists in Sokoto neutralising 13 of them including their logistic supplier in the encounter.

The incident which occured in Tarrah and Karawa communities of Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto, drew commendation from locals as the region has over time suffered repeated banditry activities.

Recall that Sabon Birni local government is in Sokoto East Senatorial District being the worst hit by insecurity in the last couple of years.

Showing their professionalism, troops of the Nigeria Army stationed in Kurawa near Kwanan Kimbo laid ambush for bandits and expertly trailed them to their enclaves before engaging them in a fierce gun duel.

Speaking on the development, a jubilant resident who declined mentioning his name for security reasons, said, “We are happy and proud of the Army who engaged in a fierce battle with the terrorists and after suffering severe casualties the terrorists retreated and fled to across the stream.

“But after the encounter, we discovered nine bodies of the terrorists in our area, and another four were found in the nearby bush along the stream.

”The gallant soldiers also recovered several weapons from the scene of the duel”. He recounted.

Giving insight into what he saw, the source said not fewer than eight AK 47 rifles and numerous ammunitions were recovered from the terrorists enclave after the encounter.

Continuing, the source said other terrorists had earlier attacked Gatawa community in same Sabon Birni where they were repelled by local vigilante and a team of the military.

Registering his appreciation with the swift intervention of security agencies, the member representing Sabon Birni local government in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Boza, confirmed that some bodies of the terrorists she been seen even as further search continues.

Reflecting on the dire security situation of the Sokoto East Senatorial District, Alhaji Aminu Alkamawa said more needed to be done by the authorities concern to ensure total peace is restored to axis that have suffered decade long terrorism invasion.
