President Bola Tinubu has submitted a three-person list of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this announcement during the plenary session on Wednesday.
The nominees include Kayode Are from Ogun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa, and Ayodele Oke.
“The list currently comprises three names, and I am certain that more will follow,” Akpabio stated after reading the letter from President Bola Tinubu.
Since Tinubu’s ascension to the presidency in 2023, no ambassadors have been appointed, a situation that has been seized upon by critics.
Following former President Donald Trump of the United States designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, many have attributed this to the lack of ambassadorial appointments.
