The Unified Nigeria Youth Forum, UNYF has joined the global community in commemorating the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, reaffirming its commitment to gender inclusion and youth empowerment as key ingredients for national renewal.

In line with this year’s theme, “Empower Her Voice, Secure Her Future,” the Forum announced that its forthcoming national program titled “The Patriotic Awakening” will dedicate 49 percent of its platform to young ladies as discussants, an initiative aimed at giving them a stronger sense of belonging and active participation in leadership discourse.

Speaking ahead of the event scheduled to hold on Saturday at Arewa House, Kaduna, by 9:00 a.m., the National President of UNYF, Comrade Olajide Toriah Filani, said the Forum is determined to promote a culture of inclusion that transcends tokenism and empowers young women to contribute meaningfully to national transformation.

“Our decision to give young ladies a 49 percent representation in this Saturday’s engagement reflects our belief that the voices of women must be central in the conversation about Nigeria’s rebirth. The girl child today represents the leadership strength of tomorrow,” Filani said.

He added that the upcoming session, themed “Nigeria the Way Forward: UNYF Setting the Pace in Nigerian Politics – The Emergence of a New Nigeria,” will bring together dynamic youth voices, policy thinkers, and reform advocates to discuss practical pathways for rebuilding the nation through visionary leadership, integrity, and purpose.

Filani described the “Patriotic Awakening” as a clarion call to Nigerian youths to rise above despair, embrace unity, and lead the charge toward a more responsible and inclusive nation.

“This is the time for Nigerian youths to own the process of national renewal—one youth, one dream, one destiny,” he declared.

The UNYF president reaffirmed the Forum’s readiness to continue driving initiatives that empower young Nigerians especially girls to become agents of peace, innovation, and national development.

The International Day of the Girl Child, observed globally every October 11, celebrates the rights, resilience, and potential of girls while advocating for equal access to education, opportunity, and leadership.
