Nigeria’s Agrifood system is going through
a tremendous challenge at the moment and requires realignment around CAADP( Commercial African Agriculture Program) through the Hand-in-Hand program evolved by the FAO(food and Agriculture Organization) in collaboration with the German Cooperation(GIZ) , the Nigerian government through the FMAFS(Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security) and the private sector including NABG( Nigeria Agribusiness Group),NACCIMA( National Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mining and Agriculture) as well as numerous Agriprenuers such as DANSA( Dangote Tomato) to become sustainable.
In line with the recent private investment call at Fraser Suite by the HMA, FMAFS organized by GIZ to herald the take off of the Kampala declaration 2026-2035 on 1st January 2026 and the
several windows,Mr President, Bola Ahned Tinubu GCFR ,has opened to support Agricultural productivity ,which so far have produced a mixed bag of successes and failures, we urge more concerted efforts at reinvigorating Nigeria’s Agrifood System.
The bitter pill of a 180 days zero tariff import window has significantly brought down food prices such that the farmers are groaning while consumers are expressing happiness with the state of affairs but for sustainability there is every need to equally bring down the cost of inputs such as fertilizers and agro chemicals such as herbicides and insecticides.
The purchasing power of the typical Nigerian and the Nigerian Naira have to also significantly improve for sustainable agribusiness which is
sine-quo-non to a sustainably prosperous agricultural economy and by the same token Nigeria’s economic growth through enhanced non-oil sector export earnings.
To strengthen and consolidate the overall agricultural ecosystem, Mr President is invited to personally attend this year’s Annual National Agricultural show ,especially, as a source of encouragement to the SHFs(small holder farmers),SSPs(small scale producers) and all stakeholders in Nigeria’s Agriculture space.
It will be the toast of the 17th edition of the Annual National Agricultural show if Mr President graces the occasion just like President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR did before him when he graced one of the editions.
We look forward to welcoming Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR when he graciously walks his talk on the “Agricultural Renewed Hope Agenda” on 25th November,2025 ,the official opening day of the 17th Edition of the Annual National Agricultural show.
