The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has announced a major change in its academic programmes, directing candidates who applied for Mass Communication to choose from four new specialised courses.

According to a circular issued by the Registrar, Dr Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, the university has officially unbundled its Mass Communication degree into Broadcasting, Journalism and Media Studies, Public Relations, and Media Studies.

The decision aligns with a wider restructuring of academic programmes across Nigerian universities, aimed at deepening professionalism and expanding career opportunities for students.

“All applicants who selected Mass Communication in the 2025/2026 UTME or Direct Entry must immediately change their choice to any of the listed programmes if they wish to participate in the Post-UTME screening,” the statement read.

The university also clarified that Estate Management is not offered at NSUK. Candidates who applied for it have been directed to switch to Urban and Regional Planning.

Similarly, Agriculture has been split into six distinct fields, including Animal Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Fisheries and Aquaculture Management, Forestry, Wildlife and Ecotourism, and Home Science and Management.

The directive comes as the Post-UTME screening deadline approaches. The university reminded applicants that the exercise closes on 29 August, 2025, and participation is mandatory.

Students and parents have been urged to make the necessary changes promptly to avoid losing their admission chances.
