Journalists and other non editorial staff who worked under New Nigerian Newspapers as Union leaders between 2012 to 2022 along side Arewa Youths Movement for Good Governance (AYMGG) have issued a 48 hours ultimatum begining from Monday the 25th day of August 2025 to New Nigerian Development Company (NNDC) to immediately release all Union dues in her custody to the then union leaders.

Speaking at a facts finding joint meeting of some of the union leaders and Arewa Youths Movement for Good Governance (AYMGG) Comrade Ibrahim Ahmadu North West Coordinator lamented that “this issue of NNDC withholding payment after Northern Governors’ approval is an insult to Northern States Governors’. For Heaven’s sake why should NNDC hold tight to New Nigerian Newspapers’ money even after conducting verification for three months, this approval was given in May 2025 and we are already in August ending I think the Northern Governors’ need to take some drastic measures else these guys in NNDC are proving to be above the law.”

” Both NNDC and New Nigerian Newspapers’ are of equal status because all of them are answerable to Northern Governors, the money in custody of NNDC belongs to New Nigerian Newspapers’ and the Northern Governors’ Forum has repeatedly spoken directing NNDC to pay NNN Beneficiaries all entitlements including check off dues so NNDC has no rights to hold on to the check off dues. We therefore demand the payment of that money within 48 hours (Monday 25th to Tuesday 26th August 2025 next week)

Also speaking one of the Union leaders who spoke on anonymity said the NDDC started verification of personal data in each beneficiary’s file in May, 2025. “The issue of verification was not among Northern Governors’ directives, the order was ‘release NNN benefits for immediate payments’ but as law abiding citizens we patiently went through the rigorous process. Now, they are holding on to our check off dues after these years of painful sacrifices. What I know is that NNDC is not above Northern Governors, it seems they want to ridicule the good work of the NSGF Chairman and Gombe State Governor His Excellency Dr Inuwa Mohammed Yahaya.”
