The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in collaboration with the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, has effectively repatriated a prominent fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.
According to Force PRO, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, this operation highlights the NPF’s unwavering dedication to combating transnational organized crime.
Mr. Qisheng, a notorious gang leader sought by authorities in Guizhou Province, China, for orchestrating violent organized crimes, fled China in 2024 following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County.
The police disclosed that Qisheng sought refuge in Nigeria in a bid to evade justice.
INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives successfully tracked and apprehended the fugitive in Abuja on August 8, 2025. He was subsequently repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, as part of a police-to-police cooperation framework coordinated by INTERPOL.
This significant operation was conducted in partnership with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.
DCP Adejobi emphasized that this action not only reinforces the NPF’s commitment to ensuring that no fugitive finds sanctuary within Nigeria but also exemplifies the strength of international cooperation in tackling the increasingly intricate challenges posed by global crime networks.
In a related statement, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, assured the international community of the NPF’s commitment to enhancing international partnerships, utilizing intelligence sharing and operational collaboration to ensure that borders do not impede the pursuit of justice.
He concluded by stating that the arrest and repatriation of Qisheng sends a clear message to criminals worldwide: the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not serve as a refuge for fugitives.
