In a significant move, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has terminated the appointments of two Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Abubakar Umar Sharada and Tasiu Roba, following their involvement in separate misconduct investigations.

The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk, announced the dismissals, revealing that Sharada was removed for orchestrating the bail of suspected drug dealer Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu, while Roba was dismissed for his participation in the diversion of palliative food supplies intended for vulnerable citizens.

According to a statement from the Press Secretary, Musa Tanko, the Governor’s decision came after findings from a Special Investigative Committee implicated Sharada as the key figure in the controversial bail process, corroborated by his own testimony. Sharada has been instructed to return all government property by 11th August 2025 and is prohibited from presenting himself as a public officer.

Similarly, Tasiu Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office, has been relieved of his duties following his arrest for rebagging diverted palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada in 2024. He faces charges of theft and criminal conspiracy and must also return all government property by the same deadline.

In a related note, the state government has cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of all allegations, affirming his innocence.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding discipline, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, urging public officials to maintain the highest standards of integrity.

The public has been warned against engaging with the dismissed aides regarding any government-related matters, as doing so would be at their own risk. It is worth noting that earlier this week, the State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, also resigned following his involvement in the bail scandal.
