The Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitan has commended the mainstream media for its pivotal role in fostering peace and national unity across Nigeria.
Speakingduring a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), club president Rotarian Luqman Babatunde lauded the media’s efforts in amplifying marginalised voices and promoting social cohesion.
The visit, which included executive members of the club and the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna chapter, aimed to strengthen ties with KSMC.
Babatunde outlined upcoming initiatives, including distributing birth kits to expectant mothers at a primary health centre in Mando and providing desks to local schools to mark Rotary’s month of peace.
The club also plans to revive its monthly fitness exercise for members and stakeholders.
Rotary District Representative Gbenga Oshosanya urged KSMC to provide visibility for all Rotary clubs in Kaduna, highlighting the organisation’s thematic focus on peace and humanitarian service.
He stressed the importance of media partnerships to showcase Rotary’s contributions to community development and national unity.
KSMC Managing Director Ahmed Maiyaki praised Rotary’s global efforts, particularly its fight against polio in Nigeria.
He reaffirmed KSMC’s commitment to promoting peace and assured the club of robust media support for its initiatives, urging greater public engagement to highlight Rotary’s work.
The delegation, accompanied by Assistant Governor Rotarian Tina Ishaku and NAWOJ Kaduna Chairperson Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, expressed optimism about the partnership.
The collaboration is expected to enhance the visibility of Rotary’s humanitarian projects, furthering its impact on Kaduna’s communities.
