A resident of Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area in Zamfara State, has criticised Governor Dauda Lawal Dare over worsening insecurity in the state.

Muhammad Mukhtar, speaking to journalists in Gusau, said Governor Lawal’s administration had failed to address the rising wave of banditry, kidnappings, and killings.

Mukhtar recalled that during his 2023 campaign visit to Jangebe, Governor Lawal promised to end the insecurity plaguing Zamfara.

“He looked us in the eye and said he would bring peace. But today, the situation is even worse,” Mukhtar said.

The concerned resident lamented the heavy toll on rural communities, where residents continue to live under constant siege from armed groups.

“Just yesterday, eleven people were killed and over 100 kidnapped. Yet the Governor remains silent,” Mukhtar stated.

He further noted that any security relief experienced in parts of the state was due to interventions from the Federal Government and military forces.

Mukhtar accused the Governor of disconnecting from the realities faced by ordinary citizens and demanded urgent action.

“This is not what we voted for. People expected leadership, not silence,” he said.
