Air Peace has officially announced the commencement of direct flights from Abuja International Airport to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London, United Kingdom, beginning October 26.

In a statement shared on its Facebook page on July 16, Air Peace highlighted that this new route will provide Nigerians with additional travel options.

“The journey has become larger and even more enjoyable. We are not just flying to London; we are offering you an expanded experience of the city,” the statement emphasized.

“Air Peace is now linking Abuja to both Heathrow and Gatwick, enhancing your choices, comfort, and access to world-class travel experiences.”

Earlier, on April 25, Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, confirmed the approval for Air Peace’s flight services from Abuja to London, which was granted on April 24.

Two months later, Keyamo announced that Nigeria had successfully secured a Heathrow slot for the airline under the bilateral air services agreement (BASA) with the UK. He assured that the federal government remains dedicated to providing similar support to other local airlines.

This approval followed the Nigerian government’s persistent efforts to urge UK authorities to address what they termed the “consistent denial” of slots at Heathrow for Air Peace, despite numerous requests.

Additionally, on March 30, 2024, Air Peace commenced direct flight operations from Lagos to Gatwick Airport in London.
