The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said the Nigerian troops arrested two members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) for receiving consignment for terrorists in Borno State.

This is just as troops also arrested a suspected tax collector for the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) in Anambra State from whom the sum of N1.5million was recovered.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye disclosed these on Thursday while giving updates on military operations across the country.

Kangye also said troops arrested 11 terrorists’ collaborators and rescued seven kidnap victims in the North-East.

“Two members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers identified as Isah Abdullahi and Abdullahi Mohammed were arrested in Liya, Biu LGA of Borno State while receiving waybill from a truck driver which corresponded with intelligence received earlier on the said consignment.

“The items include 13 pairs of military uniforms and some high voltage batteries amongst others,” Kangye said.

Troops also arrested another terrorists’ logistics supplier known as Shaibu Bulama, 65 years old at Damasak Motor Park in Yobe State on 13 July 2025.

Recovered from the suspects include some quantities of arms and ammunition.

The director added that troops also retrieved and safely detonated some IEDs, and also recovered the sum of N17,150.00 from the suspects.

“As a result of sustained military operations in the North East theatre, 16 family members of terrorists, including 4 adult females and 12 children, surrendered to troops in Bama LGA on 14 July 2025. Preliminary investigations indicate that the group surrendered from Bakura Jega village,” he said.

In the South East, General Kangye said troops on 10 July 2025, arrested an POB/ESN terrorists’ collaborator who was commissioned by the terrorists to collect taxes from the locals on their behalf in Ihiala LGA Anambra State.
