The meeting brought together representatives from various ethnic groups, including Bajju, Atyap, Kaninkon, Marwa, Ham, Gwong, Watiyap, Takad, and Ikulu.

Details of the gathering were contained in a statement signed by the National Youth Coordinator of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Maikano Jerry Mendos, and made available to Elanza News on Sunday.

According to the statement, the primary goal was to create a shared platform to improve communication and cooperation among youth leaders. The aim, Mendos noted, is to bolster collective action towards peacebuilding and community development.

One of the key resolutions reached was a commitment to fostering unity among the youth through regular dialogue and shared understanding.

The leaders also deliberated on pressing challenges facing the region, including unemployment, insecurity, limited access to quality education, and the lack of youth empowerment programmes.

They stressed the importance of speaking with one voice and partnering with relevant authorities to bring about positive change and progress in their communities.

SOKAPU youth leaders reiterated their resolve to play an active role in the socio-political development of the region and to advocate for inclusive growth.

“This is a new beginning for Southern Kaduna’s youth. We are ready to work together to secure a better future,” the statement read.
