President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the nation’s security leaders and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intensify efforts in tracking down those responsible for the recent surge of violence in Benue State.

During his visit to Makurdi, the state capital, on Wednesday, the President expressed concern over the alarming attacks in the North-Central region.

“Police, I trust your teams are vigilant and receptive to information. Why have no arrests been made? I expect action against these criminals,” Tinubu remarked at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Benue Government House.

Addressing the senior military and intelligence officials, the President stated, “Christopher (the Chief of Defence Staff), your dedication is evident. I see your efforts; don’t let fatigue set in. Oloyede and the Air Marshal, we appreciate your commitment, but we must remain vigilant and capture these offenders.

“DG NIA, DG SSS, enhance your intelligence networks to prevent such incidents from recurring.”
