The appointments, approved by Governor Uba Sani, were obtained by Elanzanews on Thursday through a source at the Government House.

According to the source, the appointees were drawn from a broad spectrum of professional backgrounds and political blocs, in a bid to promote inclusivity, competence, and accountability at the local government level.

Elanzanews gathered that the Supervisory Councillors will oversee critical departments such as Health, Education, Agriculture, Works, Environment, and Social Development in their respective councils. The Special Advisers are expected to provide technical support to Local Government Chairmen on political strategy, youth and women development, rural mobilization, and intergovernmental coordination.

The source noted that the selection process was rigorous, emphasizing merit, capacity, and a demonstrated commitment to grassroots development.

“These appointments are a critical step toward deepening democratic governance and bringing government closer to the people. Governor Uba Sani remains focused on delivering tangible outcomes at the local level, and these appointees will serve as key drivers of that vision,” the source stated.

Political observers believe the announcement also speaks to mounting public calls for greater youth and women participation in local administration.

Reacting to the appointments, the Executive Chairman of Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area, Engr. Joseph Bege Gaiya, welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the new officials would help accelerate their developmental agendas.

One of the newly appointed Supervisory Councillors in Zangon Kataf LGA, Comrade Philemon Thomas, pledged to collaborate closely with the council leadership to address urgent community challenges, particularly in healthcare delivery and infrastructure.

Governor Uba Sani has consistently reiterated his administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment, saying, “No meaningful development can take place without active participation at the local government level,” another Government House source told Elanzanews.
