In a recent hearing at the Shari’a court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, Latinate Sanusi, a mother of six, asserted her decision to remain in her ex-husband’s house despite three official divorce declarations.

Responding to Abdulrazak Yunusa’s request for the court to enforce the divorces and remove her from the property, Ms Sanusi explained, “My children are all girls, and I wish to stay to care for them, as he does not meet most of their needs.”

In contrast, Mr Yunusa argued that he supports his family and claimed the divorce stemmed from her lack of submission.

After considering both sides, Judge Kabir Muhammas confirmed the divorces, stating that the couple’s marriage is no longer valid until Ms Sanusi remarries. He clarified that any matters regarding child custody would need to be addressed in a new case.
