A northern-based civic group, the Arewa Joint Action Movement (AJAM), has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it describes as his recent strides towards fairness and inclusivity in federal appointments.

The commendation was issued on Sunday by the group’s convener, Lauretta Bako, in a statement to journalists in Abuja.

Bako praised the President for ensuring that his latest appointments reflect equitable representation of the Northern region, a move she said addresses long-standing concerns about regional imbalances in government.

“In recent months, many voices from the North have raised concerns about perceived imbalances that could affect national unity,” Bako said. “We are pleased to see the President respond with appointments that demonstrate fairness and inclusivity.”

She noted that the President’s actions show a willingness to listen to constructive criticism and make adjustments that promote unity and good governance.

The group urged Tinubu to remain open to feedback from all quarters, stressing that inclusive leadership is essential for building a more united Nigeria.

“These appointments reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people,” Bako added. “They foster a sense of belonging and show that every region deserves equitable representation.”

AJAM further described the appointments as a mark of effective leadership, applauding Tinubu’s receptiveness to dialogue and responsiveness to stakeholder engagement.

“We believe these appointments will not only improve governance but also strengthen national cohesion. A government that mirrors the diversity of its citizens is better equipped to solve complex national challenges,” the statement read.
