The Forum of Southern Kaduna Professors (FOSKAP), a coalition of intellectuals from the area, has hailed recent developments as a “new dawn” for the historically marginalized region.

At a press conference held Sunday at Epitome Hotel Event Centre, Barnawa, Kaduna, the group praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.

“These are foundational interventions that signal a turning point for our people,” said Professor John Gambo Laah, chairman of the Forum.

“For decades, Southern Kaduna has endured systemic neglect. This moment represents a shift toward meaningful inclusion.”

The group highlighted the potential of the new institutions to empower the youth through vocational training and improved healthcare access, underscoring the long-term developmental impact.

FOSKAP also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for championing the region’s cause and acknowledged the commitment of Governor Uba Sani to inclusive governance since taking office in 2023.

Particular praise was reserved for Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, credited with sponsoring the bill that established the new university. “For these sterling achievements, we shall continue to watch his back. He will never walk alone,” the Forum declared.

Other lawmakers, including Hon. Dan Amos and Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, were recognized for their roles in advancing education and health infrastructure in the region.

On security, the Forum lauded Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for establishing a new military command in Samaru Kataf and his ongoing peace-building efforts.

FOSKAP also acknowledged the resilience of traditional rulers and local communities in maintaining peace during difficult times and announced plans for a strategic retreat focused on strengthening their role in regional development and national unity.
