The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has lauded the Nigerian security forces for their recent achievements in combating banditry and terrorism, describing these successes as a significant relief for communities across the northern region.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the CNG praised the armed forces for their “relentless and courageous onslaughts,” which it said underscore their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the country.

The coalition highlighted the achievements of Operation Fansan Yamma, which recently neutralized key terrorist figures in the Alawa Forest in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area.

It also noted successful operations in the Northwest, where troops eliminated several bandit leaders, including fighters loyal to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, as well as his deputy and seven top commanders.

In the Northeast, security forces achieved another milestone with the elimination of Abu Iklima, a Boko Haram commander, in Gaizuwa, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

“These victories are a testament to the bravery, professionalism, and sacrifices of our troops who risk their lives daily to safeguard our people,” Charanchi said.

He , added that the efforts have dealt a “decisive blow” to the operational capabilities of criminal elements.

The CNG called for the momentum to be sustained through an all-fronts onslaught aimed at the total eradication of banditry and terrorism.

It urged security agencies to extend their operations to the hideouts of criminal groups, ensuring they are permanently dismantled and prevented from regrouping.
