Kogi State Government has awarded contracts worth N6.4 billion for the construction of 106.5Km rural roads, under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
The state government also awarded contracts worth N713.5 million for cross drainage structures along the roads as intervention to G Artist Engineering Ltd, Salisbury Nig. Ltd. and Seamarks Construction and Civil Engineering.
Mr Sheidu Obansa, an engineer and Kogi State Project Coordinator, made the disclosure at the contracts signing ceremony held at the RAAMP office in Lokoja on Friday.
Obansa disclosed that Philko Ltd., K-Class Multi-Global Engineering Construction Company, JV Ferotex Construction Ltd., Zarcus Construction Ltd., and NAEL and BIN HARMAL HYDRO EXPORT Nigeria Ltd. (NBHH) were contractors who won the bidding for the rural roads interventions.
According to him, the contracts were awarded after a thorough evaluation process.
He said the road projects were as a result of Gov. Ahmed Ododo’s prompt payment of the state’s counterpart funding, which attracted the World Bank and other donor agencies.
He charged the contractors to deliver quality work and ensure timely completion of the assigned projects.
The project coordinator thanked the state for its commitment to the well-being of residents.
Obansa, however, expressed confidence in the contractors and reaffirmed Ododo’s administration’s dedication to inclusive rural development.
Responding on behalf of the contractors, Mr Mohammed Ibrahim pledged commitment and strict adherence to specifications as well as timely delivery of the projects. (NAN)
