Governor Sani made the promise at the Interdenominational Church Service held at St. Andrew Military Church, Ribadu Cantonment, on Sunday, marking the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Represented by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. James Kanyip, he expressed deep concern over the plight of the dependents of fallen heroes, many of whom continue to live in poverty and squalor.

In his speech, Governor Sani emphasized the need for empowering these dependents through sustainable programs, stating, “We shall continue to design and implement empowerment schemes that will lift them from poverty to self-sustenance. This is the least we can do for them.”

He further prayed for the souls of the fallen soldiers, asking for divine comfort and strength for their families.

“We pray fervently to the Almighty God to continue to have mercy on the souls of our fallen heroes. May He continue to comfort and strengthen the families they left behind,” he said.

Governor Sani also acknowledged the ongoing sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, who are on various fronts ensuring the safety and security of the country.

“We owe them a debt of gratitude. We must continue to honor our fallen heroes by making our contributions to the forging of unity and enhancing peaceful co-existence in our respective communities,” he added.

The governor lamented the impact of crises and conflicts on the nation’s development, noting that resources which should be invested in addressing developmental challenges are often redirected to manage unrest and confront non-state actors.

He stressed that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day serves as an important occasion to honor the ultimate sacrifices made by Nigeria’s soldiers, pledging that their acts of bravery would never be forgotten.

“We must take a moment and reflect on the challenges of nation building and the urgent need to rededicate ourselves to the building and consolidation of peace and unity in our dear country,” he urged.

In his closing remarks, Governor Sani reiterated his administration’s resolve to restore Kaduna State’s reputation as a melting pot of cultures, emphasizing efforts to rebuild trust, promote peace, and extend socio-economic infrastructure across all 23 local governments in the state.

“Through the Kaduna Peace Model, we have restored peace and security to conflict-impacted areas of Kaduna State. It is a work in progress.

We shall continue to utilize the non-kinetic approach until every community in our dear State breathes the new air of peace and tranquillity,” he concluded.
