In addition to the dismissals, 19 other senior officers faced demotion. This group includes one assistant commissioner of police, one chief superintendent, two superintendents, two deputy superintendents, and 13 assistant superintendents of police.

PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani reported that two assistant inspectors-general of police also received disciplinary actions: one was reprimanded for failing to execute lawful orders, while the other was issued a letter of warning for negligence.

Ani further noted that numerous other officers were subject to various forms of punishment, including severe reprimands, reprimands, and letters of warning.

“Most of the dismissed officers are also set to face prosecution by the legal unit of the Nigeria Police Force. Additionally, three ongoing disciplinary cases have been paused pending further information from the Inspector General of Police,” Ani stated.

The commission reviewed 23 appeals and petitions, as well as nine legal matters and court judgments.

In response to these developments, the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), emphasized that the PSC will prioritize police disciplinary issues to ensure that officers not found at fault can advance in their careers while those who are culpable face appropriate consequences.

He cautioned that the commission will not tolerate police involvement in civil disputes such as land, marriage, or rental issues, asserting that the courts should handle these matters while the Police focus on criminal activities and threats to public safety.
