The cruel attack which happened in the early hours of Monday in Dan Tudu village of Sabon Birni local government area, Sokoto East Senatorial District.

“The fearful consistent sound of gunshots forced the villagers to scamper for their lives”, a source, who simply identified himself as Malam Mustapha noted.

According to Mustapha, despite the seeming reduction in banditry attacks in villages of the Sokoto East Senatorial district, all is not yet well as some villagers are still displaced and have no hope of when they will be returning to their ancestral land because of the presence of armed bandits.

“”As I speak to you now, about 9 persons have just lost their lives and another critically injured from gunshot in Dan Tudu village. The bandits went with so many people mostly women and wife’s of those killed as well into the bush and we are yet to hear anything from them”. Mustapha lamented.

The local government chairman has confirmed the incident but declined further details.

Efforts to get confirmation from the state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Rufai Ahmed proved unsuccessful as his mobile line was not reachable at the time of filing this report.

Sokoto has been battling with insecurity because of its borders with Zamfara state and the Republic of Niger, with the Sokoto Eastern Senatorial district being worst hit over the years.

It will be recalled that, recently another crop of notorious terrorists sect called LAKURAWA emerged in the state.

In a swift reaction, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered immediate redeployment of the Minister of Defence and other top security officials to relocate to Sokoto to help curb the menace without delay.

When asked on the situation of insecurity in the zone lately, Alhaji Mode Sabon Birni said, they live each day in fear of the unexpected.

“‘ I can tell you without mincing words that none of the villages in the eastern senatorial district of Sokoto is free from the attacks of these evil minded blood thirsty demons called bandits or Lakurawa.

”All of us are in fear because you can’t tell which village is next. Though, most times, they always send threat messages of impending attacks. And true to their treats, they always carry out the attacks most times unchallenged””.

The Governor Ahmed Aliyu led state government since inception has remained committed to assisting security agencies with the needed supports towards ensuring that the state stays safe, secured and peaceful.
