Pa Simon Ekele Unwanaji, the father of LEADERSHIP Newspaper Editor Peter Agbo Ekele, has died at the age of 80.

Pa Unwanaji passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, after a brief illness, according to a statement released by the family. Describing him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, the family expressed deep sorrow over his passing.

Born on September 3, 1944, in Idiri Okpoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, Pa Unwanaji was remembered as a devout Christian and a steadfast advocate for justice. His life served as an inspiration to many within and beyond his community.

He is survived by his wife, six children, and 21 grandchildren, including Peter Agbo Ekele, who described him as a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom. “His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched,” the family said in the statement.

Pa Simon Ekele Unwanaji will be laid to rest on December 13, 2024, in his hometown of Idiri Okpoga. The family has requested privacy during this period of mourning and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support they have received.
