Travelers on the long time dilapidated Jalingo-Numan federal highway have call on President Bola Tinubu, the Economic Finance Crime Commission EFCC to quickly probe the Numan-Jalingo highway N11 billion contract awarded to DEUX Project Nig LTD since 2017.

Elanzanews reliably gathered that the reconstruction of Numan-Jalingo dilapidated 103 kilometer road was awarded to DEUX Project Nig. LTD in.2017 by former President Muhammadu Buhari, while Numan is from the part of Adamawa state, Jalingo is the headquarters of Taraba state.

Our correspondent also gathered that the road’s contract sum as at 2017 was N11 Billion while the completion period was in 20 months.

The travelers who angrily express frustration on the condition of the 103 kilometer highway said apart from the road been impassable, criminals have taken advantage of the poor condition of the road by robbing, kidnapping and snatching travelers items on the road.

The travelers wandered why the contractor handling the road construction project has delayed its completion since 2017

Speaking with ELANZANEWS at Abare village in Lau local government area which is located in Taraba state, Mallam Idris Haruna, a motorist while revealing his ordeal on the road said the road is nearly impassable, he urge President Tinubu to urgently probe the award of the contract to ascertain what happened to the funds accrued in the project by his predecessor Muhamadu Buhari.

The recent flood activities have cut off River Ramulde Bridge, located in Lafia Lamulde local government area in Adamawa state which majorly linked the section of the road that is acceptable for the only connection between the North and South on the North Eastern axis of the country,

Also speaking to our correspondent at the collapsed River Ramulde Bridge, those who were struggling to cross the area insisted that the federal government under President Tinubu must probe the funds allocated to the road project and how it is been used.

Mr. Cletus Fomoyo, resident of Numan who speak to our correspondent at the collaped bridge said the work done on the Numan-Jalingo since 2017 is not up to 3 per cent after close to 8 years of the contract.

“The Tinubu administration should us good office by asking questions on what happened to funds allocated to this project over seven years ago, the contractor did nothing, the road continue worsening on daily basis, we need to know what happened to the funds.

“From Numan to Jalingo usually take travelers 1:30 minutes, now we.use not less than 4 hours to get out of the trap which.is also bedeviled with criminality and sufferness, Fomoyo stated.

Frank Koshihuk, project engineer of Deux Project Nig. Ltd — the contractor for the Numan-Jalingo road project when asked said inflation, funding, insecurity were the major challenges facing the construction work
