Contractors on the Aideyan/Golf Course road in GRA, Benin, have returned to the site following a recent inspection by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who faced controversy after being forcefully removed from his position.

The courts reinstated him, but tensions with Governor Godwin Obaseki have persisted, leading Shaibu to switch from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) and support their recent electoral victory.

Despite the state government’s attempt to distance itself from Shaibu, he proceeded with his inspection, highlighting the poor handling of the road construction.

In a statement, Shaibu called for the contractors to rectify the issues.

On his social media, Shaibu expressed satisfaction with the contractors’ swift response, stating, “Less than 48 hours after I issued a marching order for the contractors to fix the road, they returned to the site to rectify the issues.”

Shaibu reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining high infrastructure standards in Edo State and commended the contractors for their commitment to quality work.

Shaibu assured the citizens, “We will no longer tolerate substandard work and will continue to prioritise the people’s interests.”

He vowed to tirelessly address the challenges facing Edo State, urging unity in building a better future.
