Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has vehemently condemned the killings of Raymond Timothy Adai, a councilorship candidate for Pari Ward in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was brutally murdered alongside his younger brother, James Timothy.

The killings occurred on the evening of Sunday, September 29, 2024, as the brothers returned from a political campaign in Kizachi Village, Pari Ward.

In a statement released on Monday, the senator described the attack as barbaric and completely unacceptable in a civilized society.

“This ugly type of politics has no place in a civilised society like ours. It is unacceptable and must be rejected by all lovers of peace,” Katung said.

The senator called on the Kaduna State Government to urgently investigate the matter and address the growing insecurity, particularly in Kauru Local Government.

He emphasized that the government’s primary responsibility is to protect its citizens, and that the only way to honor the memory of the deceased is to ensure their killers are brought to justice.

Katung praised the security agencies for their prompt response but urged them to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. He also called on residents to provide any useful information to security agencies or local leaders that could help prevent further violence.

The senator extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving Timothy family and the entire Kauru community. “I stand in solidarity with their family while praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of our brothers,” he said, vowing to continue working with stakeholders and security agencies to achieve lasting peace in the region.
