Former ALGON Chairman, Hon. Danjuma Yusuf Akuso, has officially withdrawn from the race for the Kaduna State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship.
He made this announcement at the inauguration of Hon. Edward Percy Masha’s campaign organization in Kaduna, where he endorsed Masha’s candidacy.
Akuso’s decision follows the party’s zoning committee’s recommendation to allocate the chairmanship position to Jema’a council. He expressed confidence in Masha’s leadership abilities and his capacity to unite the party.
Hon. Yohanna Allahmagani, the Director of Organization for Masha’s campaign, echoed Akuso’s sentiments, stating that Masha’s vision of reunification and inclusive governance has garnered widespread support within the party.
During the inauguration, Masha assured attendees that if elected, he would focus on reconciling aggrieved members and creating an inclusive leadership structure that emphasizes youth and women participation. He aims to reunite the PDP and position it for victory in both the upcoming 2024 Local Government elections and the 2027 state elections.
“My leadership will be based on reconciliation, unity, and inclusivity,” Masha stated, vowing to work towards healing the internal divisions within the party. He also stressed that accountability to the people and adherence to democratic principles would be the cornerstone of his leadership.
Hon. Yohanna Gandu Chawai, the State Campaign Secretary, expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and the goodwill they have received from party members. Similarly, Hon. Solomon Dauda Chawai, the campaign’s coordinator for Kauru Local Government, emphasized Masha’s strength as a unifier.
The event was attended by key party figures and candidates for various positions, who showed their solidarity with Masha’s candidacy.
Masha’s leadership promises to mark a turning point for the Kaduna PDP as he aims to restore unity and lead the party towards future electoral success.
