A court in Abuja has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to cease any investigation into a paternity dispute involving Kabiru Turaki, former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

The Upper Area Court in Kado issued the ruling, halting police action until the case is fully heard.

Presiding Judge Shehu Ahmadu directed the Inspector-General of Police and his officers not to entertain complaints from Musa Baffa, his wife Uwani Arabi, and their daughter, Hadiza Baffa.

The case centers on claims that Turaki is the biological father of Hadiza’s child, which he denies.

Turaki claims that Hadiza, whom he once supported with education and housing, had a boyfriend who is the real father.

Hadiza and her family refute this, accusing the former minister of exploitation and coercion, leading to her pregnancy.

The case continues, with further hearings set for September 24, 2024.
