The Kaduna State Government has promised to rebuild the Saminakaa-Marjire road which has been severely impacted by a recent flooding.
Malam Liman Kila, Chief of Staff to Gov. Uba Sani made the commitment while leading the ‘Flood Impact Assessment Committee’ to Lere Local Government Area.
He emphasised the administration’s dedication to developing the rural areas and boosting their economies.
The flood disaster caused the collapse of a bridge near Saminaka town, severing the connection between Marjire and four other agrarian communities from Lere’s headquarters in Saminaka.
Sani assured the affected communities that the government would promptly address their plight.
He acknowledged that the collapse had significantly disrupted the lives and livelihoods of residents in the region.
Kila further stated that the reconstruction of the damaged road and collapsed bridge would be prioritised, alongside the provision of relief materials to those affected.
He said, “We have witnessed the extent of the damage, which certainly demands urgent intervention.
”Five communities have been cut off and their commercial activities have been severely impacted, as these are farming areas,” he said.
“His Excellency, Gov. Uba Sani, is committed to promoting rural economic growth and supporting citizens.
“The committee will brief the governor, and immediate action will follow.”
Mr Mathew Bulus Gambo, Chairman of Lere Local Government, commended the governor for forming the high-level committee, saying it demonstrated his dedication to resolving the people’s challenges.
“We appreciate the governor’s prompt response in sending a delegation led by the Chief of Staff to assess the situation.
”The bridge’s collapse has disrupted connectivity and crippled economic activities across several communities. Lere is predominantly an agrarian area,” Gambo lamented.
The committee also visited other flood-affected locations within the LGA, including Wawan Rafi village, where another bridge collapsed, and the Nasarawa and Ungwan Shuru areas of Saminaka township.(NAN)
