Rep. Garba Rabiu-Kamba, representing Dandi/Arewa federal constituency of Kebbi, has distributed 600 bags of fertilisers to farmers in his constituency.
Distributing the items in Kamba, Dandi Local Government Area of the state, the lawmaker said the gesture was meant to improve farming engagements to ensure food security in the country.
“As both the state and federal governments are making efforts to ensure improved food production and food security, you too should double your efforts to compliment such efforts towards actualising the dream.
”If you could remember the state government recently distributed fertilisers worth billions of Naira to farmers in the state, on that basis, as your representative, I am building upon that to complement the efforts of Gov. Nasir Idris.
“I have secured 600 bags of fertilisers and will be distributed to farmers in Dandi and Arewa local government area free-of-charge.
”240 farmers benefited already in Arewa and 360 farmers will benefit here in Dandi local government area,” he said.
Rabiu-Kamba explained that the  beneficiaries of the fertilisers cut across party, religious, and ethnic lines.
”I appeal to beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the commodity to pave way for bumper harvest this year,” he advised.
Rabiu-Kamba particularly cautioned against diversion of the product for other purposes other than the one intended.
He thanked APC members for sustaining the party in the area, describing the feat as heartwarming.
On education, Rabiu-Kamba, said that over 100 students of secondary schools would benefit from his gesture of N30,000 each to pay their National Examinations Council (NECO) fees.
”I wil do my best to come up with an assistance and empowerment scheme to help our youths to be self-reliant, boost their businesses and create more job opportunities for them,” he said.
On local government polls, the lawmaker urged the electorates to rally round the All Progressives Congress (APC) and vote the party Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in the forthcoming Aug. 31 LG elections in the state.
In his remarks, the District Head of Kamba, Alhaji Muhammadu Zarumai, ‘Sarkin Shikon Kamba’, applauded the lawmaker for coming to the aid of the farmers in the area.
He described the gesture as apt, considering the current economic hardship faced by the people.
Zarumai, called on other well meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the lawmaker in providing succour to vulnerable members of the society.
A cross section of beneficiaries from the two local government areas appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture to step-up farming activities and improve their livelihood.
They prayed God to replenish the lawmaker’s pockets and grant him the strength to sustain the kindness. (NAN)
