Chief Tony Okocha, the Rivers Representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has urged youths to support the completion of ongoing projects in their communities.
Okocha made the call on Wednesday in Port Harcourt shortly after an inspection tour of NDDC projects in some parts of the state.
He said that the essence of implementing the projects was to enthrone a better quality of life for the people.
“It is important for the youths to maintain peace and support the contractors to deliver the projects, the commission is interested in the wellbeing of the people,” he said.
The NDDC official said that the projects being undertaken by the commission were in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“We have a president that feels the pain of the people. A leader that is also taking proactive steps to improve the people’s quality of life,” he said.
Okocha listed some of the ongoing projects to include, staff quarters at Community Secondary School, Umuechem, Etche and a lodge house for corps members in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni.
Other are, solar-powered water project at Soku town, Akuku-Toru, Nkpolu Community Town Hall and NTA-Apara Link Road, among others.
“The inspection exercise is to look at the pace and quality of work, and to ensure that the projects are delivered according to schedule,” he said.
He said that NDDC was committed to the peace and development of the Niger Delta region under the watch of the current Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
He urged Rivers people to support the current government at the centre in order to attract more development projects to the state.(NAN)
