The Arewa youths for peace and security have raised concerns over the recent appointment of commissioners for the public complaints commission, which excludes the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a press conference held in Abuja, Aisha Ubandoma, the Special Assistant to the Aypas Secretary General, described this exclusion as a violation of the true federal character principle, which ensures representation from every geopolitical zone, state, and the FCT in various public sectors.
“The exclusion of Hon Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa, who had previously represented the FCT in the PCC, has raised eyebrows.
“It is worth noting that he performed exceptionally well during his previous tenure, which recently expired. To uphold the principles of equity, justice, and fairness, we demand the immediate reappointment of Hon Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa as the federal commissioner representing the FCT at the PCC,” the group said.
The group said, “Currently, apart from the Minister of Special Duties and a federal permanent secretary, there are no other feasible federal appointments for the FCT.”
“Therefore, President Tinubu should urgently order the reappointment of HON Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa as the PCC federal commissioner, considering the neglect the seat of power has endured in recent times.
“The appointment of HON Onoja, a former deputy governor of Kogi state, is deemed unacceptable, null, and void. The FCT boasts competent and qualified candidates who have previously served, like Hon Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa.
“We strongly advise and call upon President Tinubu to reverse the appointment of Former Kogi Deputy Governor Edward Onoja as the federal commissioner representing the FCT and replace him with the preferred indigene, Hon Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa. This decision is crucial for the sake of peace, equity, justice, and fair play. We vehemently oppose the appointment of a non-indigene to represent the FCT.
“We believe that President Tinubu is an attentive leader, and we trust that he will take action to rectify the mistaken and ill-informed appointment of Mr. Edward Onoja, who hails from Kogi state, to fill the FCT slot. We will persist in our demands until they are met,” the group added.
