Nigeria’s Senior Men’s Cricket team, Yellow Greens, on Tuesday delivered a stellar performance to defeat hosts Kenya by 14 runs in the fourth T20 match of the ongoing Kenya/Nigeria bilateral series.
Batting first at the Sikh Union club in Nairobi, the Yellow Greens posted a competitive total of 158 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
The opening pair, Sulaimon Runsewe and Selim Salau, laid a solid foundation with a remarkable partnership of 110 runs.
Runsewe led the charge with a brilliant 60 runs off 51 balls, while Salau contributed a valuable 42 runs off 37 balls before being bowled.
In the second innings, Nigeria’s bowlers put up a disciplined performance to restrict Kenya to 144 runs for losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
Taiwo Mohammed was exceptional, bowling 4 overs and conceding just 15 runs while taking 2 wickets.
Udekwe Chiemelie also impressed with 4 overs, 28 runs, and 2 wickets
Captain Sylvester Okpe chipped in with 2 wickets for 19 runs in his 2 overs.
Isaac Okpe and Joshua Asia each took a wicket, conceding 28 and 27 runs respectively in their 4-over spells.
The standout performer of the match was Sulaimon Runsewe, whose all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
His innings provided the backbone for Nigeria’s total and set the stage for a thrilling victory.
