In a remarkable achievement, Cherish Daniel Markson, a young Nigerian from Bayelsa State, has brought honor to Nigeria on the international stage. The University of Warwick in the United Kingdom has recognized her exceptional performance in the three-year BA (Hons) degree in Law with Social Sciences, awarding her the first prize.
Cherish, who graduated as the top Law student at the University of Warwick, is the daughter of Daniel Iworiso-Markson, a former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Bayelsa State. Her father expressed his gratitude to God for the accomplishment, acknowledging that it was not his own doing but a result of divine providence.
The University of Warwick, in a congratulatory letter signed by Dr. Margaret O’Brien, the Director of Undergraduate Studies, School of Law, highlighted Cherish’s outstanding achievement. She scored the highest mark among all students in this demanding course, earning a Second Class; Higher Division Degree with an overall average of 67.3%. As a token of recognition, she was awarded a prize of £250.
Acknowledging Cherish’s commitment and intellect, the University expressed confidence in her ability to achieve great things in her future endeavors. A formal reception in her honor will be held after the graduation ceremony on July 19.
This is not the first time Cherish has been recognized for her academic excellence. Three years ago, while studying at Bridge House College in Lagos, she received the Top in World Award in Law and High Achievement in Sociology from Cambridge International. Her exceptional performance in the Advanced Subsidiary Level Examination further solidified her reputation as a top achiever.
Cherish’s international qualifications, coupled with her remarkable achievements, position her as a highly promising individual with a wide range of opportunities in education and career prospects.
