Jigawa State executive council meeting has approved the release of N3.5billion as a non refundable grant to support 30,000 farmers to boost their production
The state commissioner for Information Youth Sport and Culture Hon Sagir Musa revealed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting.
He said, the grant which included cash, farm inputs and implements will be distributed to the selected rural Fadama farmers to enhance their capacity to produce more.
According to him the program was supported by World Bank under COVID-19 Economic Recovery and Stimulation design to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
Hon Sagir added that, the 30,000 beneficiaries were carefully selected
under the FADAMA phase IV and V by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources for boostingt food security and improve livelihood of rural communities.”
” The initiative is expected to not only mitigate the immediate effects of COVID-19 pandemic but also contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability and economic growth in the state” Hon Sagir declared
The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the state Governor Malam Umar Namadi to empowered Jigawa people through their own business of choice for achieving growth and development.
