Hosted by the 14 Brigade at Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia, the event aims to enhance leadership qualities and organizational skills among soldiers, preparing them for more challenging responsibilities.

Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 82 Division, urged participants to engage seriously and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship. Represented by Brig.-Gen. OO Ejere, Division Training Officer, Dada emphasized the importance of continuous training. “The Army will continue to train and retrain soldiers to ensure readiness for any challenge,” he stated.

He noted that the program aligns with the Army Headquarters Training Directive for 2024 and supports the training goals of the 82 Division. This year’s competition includes increased participation by female soldiers, reflecting the Army’s commitment to inclusivity.

The participating teams include the 13 Brigade, Calabar; 14 Brigade, Ohafia; 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri; 44 Engineers Brigade, Enugu; and 82 Division Garrison, Enugu.

In his welcome remarks, Brig.-Gen. Olusola Diya, Commander of the 14 Brigade, encouraged participants and officials to strive for excellence. “We should not focus solely on winning or losing but on gaining experience and fostering a sense of sportsmanship. This will help you carry out your military responsibilities effectively as leaders,” Diya said.
