President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, reaffirmed his dedication to collaborating with Governor Umo Eno and his administration in Akwa Ibom to promote unity, development, and peace in the state.

Akpabio made this statement during a courtesy visit by Governor Eno and members of the National Assembly from Akwa Ibom, representing different political parties, at his residence.

Accompanied by his wife, Ekaette, a former First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, the Senate President warmly welcomed the esteemed guests.

The visit was both in celebration of the Senate President’s first year in office since being elected as the third-highest-ranking official on June 13, 2023, and to commemorate 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria since 1999.

In a statement by Jackson Udom, Special Assistant on Media to the Senate President, Akpabio expressed his joy at receiving Governor Eno and the delegation from Akwa Ibom, comprising lawmakers from the 10th National Assembly across party lines. He emphasized that their unity and commitment to the development of the state transcended political differences.

“As a former governor of the state and now the President of the Senate, I am fully dedicated to working with you and your government for the overall benefit of our people. I extend my gratitude to you and your team for this visit and the honor bestowed upon me,” Akpabio stated.

Governor Eno, in his brief response, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, even at short notice. He shared his reflections on the significance of the date, June 13, 2023, recalling past visits to the same location and expressing hope to continue marking the day in the future.

Accompanying Governor Umo on the visit were serving members of the National Assembly and a former member of the House of Representatives, including Senator Ekong Sampson, Hon. Unyime Idem, Hon. Paul Ekpo, Hon. Mark Esset, Hon. Clement Jimbo, Hon. Dr. Patrick Umoh, Hon. Martin Esin, Hon. Uduak Odudoh, Hon. Ime Okon, Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong Udo, Hon. Okpollum Etteh, and Rt Hon Onofiok Luke.
