The University of Abuja’s management has refuted misleading reports claiming that Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah was summoned by the Federal High Court in Abuja over the inauguration of the University’s Governing Council.

Contrary to these reports, the court merely ordered that all defendants, including the Vice-Chancellor, be notified of a motion filed by the plaintiffs.

“The court did not summon the Vice-Chancellor,” clarified the management.

“Justice Inyang Ekwo directed that the defendants, including the President, the Attorney General of the Federation, and the National Universities Commission, be notified to respond to the plaintiffs’ motion within three days.”

Management also stressed that there is no restraining order preventing the University from proceeding with the inauguration of the newly elected internal council members.

“If such an order is served, we will comply appropriately,” the statement added.

These misrepresentations, according to the management, are aimed at creating a false impression of culpability and embarrassing the Vice-Chancellor and the University.

“These reports are a clear example of irresponsible journalism and manipulative tactics by the plaintiffs,” the management stated.

The University community and the public are urged to disregard these false and malicious reports.

“The claims made by Newswire and Event Magazine on June 7, 2024, and an undated video from AIT News Hour are completely baseless,” confirmed Maryam Mohammed, Information and University Relations officer.
