The Kalama Development Initiative has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS for greenlighting the construction of a critical bridge linking Kalama to the rest of the state.

Founded in 2018, the group focuses on addressing the socio-political concerns of Kalama’s youth and views this project as a major step forward.

Founder Sobere Opusunju, MBCS, and Head of Administration Comrade Inyie Okpukpo, expressed their gratitude in a joint statement.

“This bridge will significantly improve access to markets, schools, hospitals, and other essential services for the people of Kalama,” they noted.

The initiative also thanked Hon. Joe Johnson, Commissioner for Information, for his advocacy. His efforts during the State Executive Council meeting were crucial in advancing the project.

The construction will include a 5.75 km road from Kalaibiama to Epellema, a 450-meter bridge, and solar lighting.

This development is expected to enhance transportation safety and connectivity for multiple communities in the region.

Confidence is high in Monier Construction Company Nigeria Limited (MCC), the firm selected for the project, to complete the work on time and within budget.

A 30 percent mobilization fund has been allocated to ensure a smooth start.

Governor Fubara’s “Rivers First” policy is evident in these infrastructure projects, including the Trans-Kalabari Road and the Kalaibiama-Epellema Road.

These initiatives are key to unlocking the economic potential of Rivers State’s coastal and riverine areas.

The state government remains dedicated to improving the lives of its citizens through such advancements.
