Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani, has received a crucial appeal to ensure that the 150 Security Hilux Vans recently provided in the fight against terrorism reach the areas most affected by insecurity.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the National Chairman of the group, Comrd. Isaac Abrack, it was emphasized that the Governor’s distribution of 150 Hilux Vans and 500 Motorcycles to security agencies on his first anniversary demonstrates his unwavering commitment to the safety of the people and the promotion of business development.

The Northern Christians Youth Professionals, a leading group in support of forest communities and rural dwellers living in terrorist hotspots, strongly urges Governor Sani to prioritize the allocation of these vehicles, particularly the motorcycles, to the Kaduna State Vigilante Service forest units and other community-based vigilante groups operating in the forest areas where the bandits are active.

“This is crucial in intensifying the fight against terrorists hiding in our forests and sustaining these efforts with the necessary vigor,” stated the group.

Recognizing that these community members are the primary victims of the attacks and are highly motivated to collaborate with the armed forces in combating terrorism, the group highlighted the success stories of the youths of Borno State in the Civilian Joint Task Force in 2012 and the hunters of Adamawa State in driving out Boko Haram.

To ensure an effective distribution of the vehicles and motorcycles, the group urges Governor Sani to prioritize communities in Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kajuru, Kauru, Sanga, and Zangon Kataf Local Government Areas, where the situation is particularly intense. Many of these communities have been displaced or forced to seek shelter with relatives due to the severity of the attacks, resulting in great hardship for the residents.

The group expressed confidence that by empowering the vigilante groups who are well-acquainted with these communities, the situation can be turned around.

“As a partner in the governance of the State, the NCYP will closely monitor the distribution and utilization of these vehicles and motorcycles. We also call upon the citizens of Kaduna State to continue supporting the Governor, whose inclusive leadership style is already fostering unity in the state.”
