The Interim Head of the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies Kaduna, Dr Munir Surajo, has extolled President Bola Tinubu’s policy on oil and gas transition to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Surajo spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kaduna while commenting on Tinubu’s first anniversary.

NAN reports that the college was established by PTDF, as a tertiary institution to deliver post-graduate training programmes in trades related to the oil and gas industry at Msc and PhD levels..

Surajo said that globally, the trend was moving from oil and gas to renewable energy.

He stressed that the shift was a major area where PTDF has been training Nigerians to be fully empowered with the knowledge and technology for the energy transition.

Surajo stated that part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration was ensuring that Nigerians have the capacity to do that, where utilisation of CNG was critical.

He pointed out that the CNG could be utilised for domestic use and by the automobile industries.

Surajo said that all those were part of the technologies the PTDF was training Nigerians to be fully empowered to participate and manage the resources.

He, however, stated that tilting from the oil and gas would be a gradual process.

Surajo stressed that oil was the backbone of the country’s economy, which transition into CNG would be a gradual process.

Speaking further, the college’s interim head said CNG was cleaner than oil.

“Moving from oil to CNG is a gradual process, just as in other countries of the world.

”The people will be educated on how it is used, the equipment for its usage will also be made available for people to use,” Surajo said.

He stressed that Tinubu’s administration was doing all it could to ensure the success of the transition to CNG. (NAN)
