The NNPC limited has clarified that the fire incident in Lagos at a tank farm is not their facility.

According to the NNPPL, it is important to clarify that the unfortunate fire outbreak at a tank farm in Marine Beach, Apapa, Lagos, occurred at a facility owned by HOGL Energy Ltd. (Honeywell Depot), not an NNPC Retail Ltd establishment,” a statement issued by the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye stated.

“We want to ensure accurate information reaches the public, as early reports may have caused confusion,” Soneyesaid in the statement adding that a swift action was taken to extinguish the fire, which was triggered by a spillage of petroleum products within the tank farm’s premises.

“Thanks to the prompt response of emergency responders, the situation was swiftly brought under control.

“In the aftermath of the incident, NNPC Ltd. and other Depots in the vicinity have resumed their loading operations, guaranteeing a seamless flow of petroleum products across the country. NNPC Ltd. assures the public that there will be no disruption to the supply and distribution of essential fuel resources,” he added.

“We remain committed to upholding the highest safety standards and maintaining uninterrupted operations,” affirmed Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd.

“This incident serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance and precautionary measures required in the handling of petroleum products. NNPC Ltd. will continue to prioritize safety and work diligently to prevent any future mishaps,” he added.
