Man, 25, bags 2 years imprisonment for stealing car catalyst

A Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, on Wednesday, sentenced a 25-year-old John Nawa, to two years imprisonment for stealing a Lexus car catalyst in Ibadan.

Nawa, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, stealing and breaking, to which, he pleaded guilty.

The Court President, Mrs Sukurat Yusuf, while sentencing the convict, said that it would run concurrently.

The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, had earlier told the court that Nawa committed the offences on May 11, 2023 at 1.30 p.m. at Adeoyo area of Ibadan.
Amusan said that the convict and others at large broke and entered the premises of Shashi Inpex and Concept Extension Company at the aforementioned area by jumping the fence.

He said that Nawa stole the Lexus car catalyst, worth N700,000 and other valuables, totalling N3,280,000.
The offences, according to him, contravene Sections 516, 413 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
