The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations to enhance the government’s image by effectively sharing positive information.
Governor Abdullahi Sule made this commitment during the opening of the international conference on communication and development in Africa at Nasarawa State University, Keffi on Thursday.
The conference, themed “Communication, Climate Change, and Resilience in Africa,” was organized by the Institute of Strategic National Development Communications at the Nasarawa State University bringing together key executives from VON, NAN, NTA, and other distinguished guests to explore the role of public relations in national development.
In his speech, Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by Yakubu Lamai, Director of Strategic and Event Management at the Government House praised the partnership with NIPR as a crucial step towards propelling Nasarawa State towards progress and attracting investors for development.
“As a state, the partnership of Nasarawa state with NIPR is a corner stone for us in the government because NIPR has been! critical ammnd accelerated that will take us to the rightful destiny. Nasarawa state if you will recall has reached out to NIPR that we will like to host NIPR finishing school in Lafia”.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Mohammed, emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to climate change mitigation and sustainable development to enhance the well-being of Nigerians.
He highlighted the government’s initiatives to improve food security, healthcare, and socio-economic development while tackling the challenges posed by climate change.
The conference also featured remarks from Dr. Ike Neliaku, President of the National Institute of Public Relations, and Professor Emmanuel Dandaura, Director of the Institute of Strategic National Development Communication, stressing the importance of public relations practitioners being properly registered with the institute to maintain high standards in the field.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo, expressed optimism that the presence of communication experts at the conference would bridge communication gaps and urged participants to apply practical communication techniques to achieve their goals.
The event concluded with the induction of forty-seven members who were issued licenses to practice public relations globally, signaling a commitment to uphold professionalism and excellence in the field.
